The exact date on which the post office of TRITH ST LEGER office became a head post office is given in an issue of L'IMPARTIAL DU NORD news paper dated 13 January 1870. An insert from the regional postal adminitration warns readers that from 16 January 1870, this office will become a head post office and that the postage for a letter of the 1st weight level (notably from this office to VALENCIENNES and vice versa) will increase from 10 c to 20 c.

However, type 17 from this post office was used from 13 January 1870, although it should only have been used from 16 January. Type 17 may therefore have been used early.
