District of Dunkerque
The district of DUNKERQUE had 9 post offices between 1852 and 1876. Most of these post offices were long-established head post offices. Only 2 post offices were opened during this period: ESQUELBECQ and BOLLEZEELE.
These 2 post offices are therefore normally the most difficult to find.
Special mention:
- the small numerals 4480 of ESQUELBECQ: never seen before! Post office station opened in June 1862 and the end of the small numerals on 31 December 1862.
- the type 15 date stamp of DUNKERQUE mobile box. Only one piece seen!
- the type 15 of WORMHOUT with wrong departmental number (37 instead of 57).
